This is an entirely local business, Zanzibari women make all of Sasik creations. Their involvement in Sasik enables them to earn their own income for the first time. Through the success of Sasik these women have been able to improve their standards of living and help to educate their children.
Sasik is the most successful women’s craft co-operative in Zanzibar.
Sasik is the most successful women’s craft co-operative in Zanzibar, creating elaborate furnishing covers and wall hangings based on Arabic designs. They now decorate home and hotels in Africa and around the world. More importantly the work for the women of Sasik helps them to provide a better life for their families.
